2014 Summer Picnic

July 12th marked Mackenzie’s annual summer picnic. Staff, their significant others and children donned their best cowboy hats and made their way to the dude ranch-inspired destination at Blue Lake Park. Although bull riding and steer wrestling were not the main events, attendees still took a trip to the Wild West with games like lassoing (fake) cow heads, hunting for treasure in mounds of straw, using nerf guns to shoot down cups, a watermelon eating contest and an obstacle course combining skillfully mastering a lasso, swiftly jumping hay bales, and more! Winning players earned Amazon gift cards.

Since all of this fun worked up some hearty appetites, a catered BBQ of ribs, chicken, beer and wine provided sustenance and a finger lickin’ good time. When the July heat became too much to bear, kids and adults cooled off with ice cream or made their way down to the nearby splash pads and beach.

Those not ready for the fun to end headed over to Mark Hettum’s nearby home to enjoy the leftover beer and more fun in the water.

The picnic was a huge success with roughly 130 guests, including employees and their families, and it is safe to say we are all looking forward to see where next year will take us!
